Former Governor of Ogun State Ibikunle Amosun is keen on making his choice as the successor of Dapo Abiodun, the incumbent in 2023.

Amosun failed to stop Abiodun’s emergence as Governor in 2019 but is working on his past mistakes ahead of 2023.

Abiodun is said to be seeking re-election but Amosun is working not only to halt the move but also put his choice as successor in 2023.

The former governor – now the Senator representing Ogun Central – lost tremendous influence and control of ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) since Abiodun took office.

Societynow.ng gathered Amosun is currently mending fences with his political foes and getting an increasing number of Abiodun’s aggrieved supporters to his side.

Amosun now has all Senators in Ogun state in his corner as well as some of the House of Representatives Members.

In a direct move not to leave Abiodun any room for a political maneuver, Amosun is said to be shopping for his choice as the Governor’s successor in Ogun East.

Governor Abiodun is from Ogun East.

Societynow.ng further gathered that Amosun has upped the ante by zeroing on Ijebu, the part of Ogun East with the perceived larger vote area.

Ogun East is divided into Remo and Ijebu.

Governor Abiodun is from Iperu in Remo.

Societynow.ng gathered that three people are being considered by Amosun as the possible replacement in Ogun East.

“Two are already in Amosun’s camp while the remaining one is still with Abiodun” societynow.ng gathered.

One of the three is Senator Ramoni Lekan Mustapha societynow.ng learned.
