Emerging details have revealed why all the Senators in Ogun state turned their back on the Governor, Dapo Abiodun.

The senators, Ramoni Lekan Mustapha (Ogun East), Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun Central), and Tolu Odebiyi (Ogun West) have joined forces against the political interest of Abiodun.

Mustapha and Odebiyi formerly with Governor Abiodun have switched allegiance to Amosun whom they worked against during the 2019 election.

The three Senators jointly backed a parallel congress to elective new executives for the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State on Saturday, October 16, 2021.

The information available to societynow.ng has revealed the reasons why the Senators are working against Governor Abiodun.

Amosun, the immediate past Governor of Ogun state is still carrying on his pre-2019 gubernatorial fight against Abiodun.

He wants to retake the political power he lost with the emergence of Abiodun as Governor.

Senator Lekan Mustapha is decorated with talks of the gubernatorial ambition.

The word in the political circle in Ogun state is that the Senator from Ogun East wants to take over the seat of Governor Abiodun in 2023. And he needs support from outside Abiodun’s circle to achieve that.

Senate Odebiyi from Ogun West is said to be seeking re-election.

This ambition is reportedly threatened by intensified talks Governor Abiodun intends to back Lagos Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) to take over the senatorial seat of Ogun West in 2023.

Senator Adeola representing Lagos West played a major role in the emergence of Abiodun as the Governor of Ogun state in 2019.

It is believed that the Senatorial seat of Ogun West was one of the bargains for the support the Lagos senator with major influence in the politics of Ogun state provided.

Senator Odebiyi re-aligned with Amosun to protect his ambition.

“So it is a case of political interests. The Senators have joined forces to protect their political ambitions. It was exactly what happened in 2019 when Odebiyi and Mustapha backed Abiodun against Amosun. They believe their interest and that of the governor do not align again. It is a case of interests at play. That is the reality” societynow.ng learned.
