The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ogun State chapter, has dismissed reports claiming that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) released an updated final list of governorship candidates for the state on Saturday, October 24, 2026, with its candidate, Oladipupo Adebutu, allegedly missing.

The party described the publication, which circulated on Saturday night, as false and misleading, insisting that INEC had not released any such list.

In a statement dated October 24, 2026, and signed by its State Publicity Secretary, Arc. Otunba Kayode Adebayo, the PDP said the report was designed to confuse and distract residents of the state.

“INEC has not released any such list. The publication is false, baseless, and devoid of any iota of truth,” the party declared.

The PDP maintained that Adebutu remained its authentic governorship candidate and expressed confidence that his name would appear on the ballot.

“Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu remains our authentic, undisputed gubernatorial candidate, and his name shall be on the ballot,” the statement added.

The party urged its members, supporters and the general public to disregard the report and remain calm, assuring them that there was no cause for alarm.

It also accused those circulating the publication of attempting to create unnecessary panic and attract undue attention, describing them as agents of misinformation and distraction.

The PDP further assured its supporters of the restoration and inclusion of Adebutu’s name on the governorship list, although it did not provide details of the process or timeline for the anticipated inclusion.
