The fresh information available to SocietyNow.Ng has revealed how National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) bosses Kunle Poly (Kunle Lawal), Okoro (Kosoko Akeem Agboola), and Egbon Idowu (Idowu Onikoyi) ended up in police detention.

The trio will stay in detention – based on court order – for 30days while police conduct more investigation to determine their culpability in the troubles rocking Idumota, area of Lagos.

The latest unrest in the area resulted in the death of one and looting of different shops and related business places.

SocietyNow.Ng’s learned that the detained NURTW Bosses are all branch chairmen in Lagos Island.

Added information, however, revealed that the other two transport union bosses worked for Kunle Poly before they were upgraded to branch chairmen.

“Both were upgraded and made branch chairmen when the Idumota branch under Kunle was split into three, Okoro used to be the treasurer of Kunle Poly’s branch while Egbon Idowu was a unit chairman (also under Kunle Poly)” ” SocietyNow,Ng learned.

This development set the stage for the ceaseless supremacy battle that has pitched the other two against Kunle Poly with residents and business people at the receiving end of the nasty engagements.

SocietyNow.Ng learned the latest trouble was caused by agitation over toll collected at the Eyin Eyo (Behind the Eyo Statue) area of Idumota.

“Before now, it was being collected by a special task force of the NURTW but since they(task force) left, it was Kunle’s boys that were collecting it. The area is not under anyone’s branch. The other two challenged him on this but unable to agree on how to share the spoils among them, they went to war with all sides trying to forcefully take over the spot as they are wont to do” SocietyNow.NG gathered.

Added revelation has it that the tolls collected by the NURTW at Eyin Eyo are from many drivers who ” do not want to go all the way through the traffic on Nnamdi Azikwe street to go turn, they illegally do so at Eyin Eyo (behind the Eyo statue).”

SocietyNow.Ng gathered that the arrested NURTW bosses held a peace rally at posturing them not at war around Idumota earlier on the day they were arrested – last week.
