21 Abductees Rescued! Tinubu Orders Manhunt For Kogi Kidnappers

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered security agencies to sustain the pressure on criminal elements following the rescue of 21 Nigerians abducted last week in Kogi State.
The rescued victims comprise 15 members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, and six other Nigerians who were abducted by suspected kidnappers in the state.
The President, in a statement, said the victims were rescued on Monday afternoon through a well-coordinated Search and Rescue, SAR, operation involving personnel of the military, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, DSS, and local vigilantes.
He said the 21 abductees, comprising eight males and 13 females, were safely rescued from the kidnappers’ den in the forests of Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
According the nation’s number one citizen, the rescued victims are currently receiving medical attention before being reunited with their families.
“While the abductees have been safely rescued, our gallant security forces are still on the trail of the routed kidnappers, in line with my directive to sustain the pressure on all criminal elements.
“Those responsible will face the full weight of the law, and our security agencies will pursue everyone who aided this crime,” the President said.
Tinubu also assured Nigerians that his administration remained committed to ensuring that citizens could travel across the country without fear.
He commended the combined SAR team for its courage and thanked the families and loved ones of the abductees for their understanding during the ordeal.
“As I share in the relief and joy of the parents and loved ones of the rescued individuals, I want to once again assure parents and loved ones of our dedicated corps members that my administration remains committed to ensuring the safety of their lives and property, as well as those of other Nigerians,” he said.
The President also commended the men and women of the nation’s security and intelligence agencies for their efforts in securing the release of the victims.
