Social Media Challenge Created Out Of How Council Chairmen Prostrated For Abiodun

A social media challenge is on in Ogun State.

It is themed on how the council chairmen prostrated for Governor Dapo Abiodun in a plea for forgiveness over the allegations made by one of them.

Wale Adedayo, the Chairman of Ijebu -East claimed the 20 Local Governments in Ogun State have been receiving zero allocations since Abiodun’s first term.

The Governor who was sworn in for a second term on May 29, 2023, spiritedly denied the allegations through explanations by his Chief Press Secretary, Lekan Adeniran and Secretary to the State Government Tokunbo Talabi.

The chairmen met with the Governor on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, to distance themselves from the claims of one of them and plead forgiveness for the sin of one that appeared that of all.

To showcase a contrite spirit, the elected representatives of the people of Ogun state led by Babatunde Emilola-Gazal, from Ijebu Ode prostrated – while the women knelt – for the Governor.

The video of the development has been turned into a social media challenge spearheaded by the main opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party.

Koredo Oladepo, a very visible supporter of Ladi Adebutu, the Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 Ogun State gubernatorial election is hugely fueling the social media challenge.

Adebutu is challenging the less than fifteen votes margin used to declare Abiodun winner of the March 2023 gubernatorial election.

The social media challenge about the council chairmen stated as Idobale (prostration) and has transformed into “Ewolefagba” (pay obeisance to the elder) challenge.

“Ewole Fagba, Agba ni Ngbani” (Pay Obesiance to the elder, the elder bails out) was the song that was sung as the council chairmen prostrated for Governor Abiodun in a move that has turned an image-denting attempt to posture him as “in charge”.

Adedayo who vehemently stands by his claims against the Governor has been suspended for 3 months by seven out of the 11 councilors in his local government and decorated with counter-allegations bordering on financial misappropriation.

He is also said to be in the custody of security agents answering questions on his allegations since Friday, September 1, 2023.
