Why Popular Fuji Musician Malaika Is Hugely Respected By Top Members Of Transport Union
Insiders disclosed that this stance affected Malaika in terms of patronage from those in power
Details available to societynow.ng revealed that Sulaimon Alao Adekunle is hugely respected by the leadership, different factions, and deep pocket members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
The Fuji musician who is known by the stage Malaika has refused to join sides in exchange for patronage in the supremacy fight rocking the transport union, especially in Lagos state sources say.
“Whether in charge of the union or not, Malaika has strived to maintain a good relationship with all the deep pockets members, different factions and leadership” Societynow.ng learned.
Insiders disclosed that the norm is for musicians and others who relate with the leadership of the NURTW – which yields billions of Naira in annual revenue– to sideline those who are not in power in the bid to curry favor from the people in charge of the very wealthy association.
“But Malaika has shied away from doing that. He insists that he is a professional who renders services. He insists that would naturally give extra respect to whichever faction is in charge of the affairs of the association but doesn’t want to be dragged into the politics of the transport union by sidelining one faction for the other” societynow.ng learned.
Insiders disclosed that this stance affected Malaika in terms of patronage from those in power when he first adopted it but over time all the factions have come to respect him for it because he is actually watching out for all of them according to a source.
“Because the reality is that what Malaika stands by is that whoever is in power today will sooner or later be out of power, but whichever side of the coin such person finds himself, the musician will treat him with respect” societynow.ng gathered.
