Why Music Star Malaika Was “Untouched” In Violence That Resulted In Death Of One

While it is true that violence occurred in an area that musical star Sulaimon Adekunle Alao performed last week, it is incorrect to say he was hurt and his equipment burned.

Societynow.ng learned that the shining light of Fuji music – more popularly known as Malaika – was untouched in the violence that eventually resulted in the death of one.

‘’The truth is though the violence occurred in the area Malaika performed, it wasn’t within the same proximity and Malaika performed with the equipment rented by those that contracted him’’ societynow.ng learned.

It is normal practice for event organizers to provide equipment for artiste as part of efforts to reach a mutually beneficial performance fee.

Malaika performed at a private engagement in Dopemu area of Lagos state.

Societynow.ng learned that trouble erupted in the area – but well away from the place of performance – amongst yet to be identified persons in the locality shadowy reasons.

‘’A person was stabbed and this created a bit of tension in that part of town and when words filtered into where Malaika was performing most of the guests opted to leave before things escalate. The incident occurred around 8.30p.m and by 10.00p.m Malaika and his crew had left the area. They were nowhere near where the violence took place so talks of getting hurt were certainly out of the equation’’ a source stated.

Insiders disclosed that the Fuji musician went on to perform other engagements and later had a joint performance with a colleague, Pasuma ( Wasiu Ajibola Odetola ) before words on the street filtered in that the individual that was stabbed didn’t survive the wounds sustained.

‘’Obviously, as a form of retaliation, the deceased friends and sympathizers stormed the area where he was stabbed and destroyed properties. The equipment hired for Malaika’s performance was yet to be taken away and got destroyed’’ a source disclosed.

‘’How the story that Malaika was attacked and someone got beheaded and his musical instrument got burnt came to life in all these still beats my imagination’’ an insider expressed amazement at the tales that hit the town about the incident.
