There is a strong indication Ladi Adebutu may not become the next governor of Ogun state.

“He has an amalgamation of forces out to stop him at all cost” a source stated.

But the most prominent which appears his biggest stumbling block is said to be former president Olusegun Obasanjo.

“Baba” as the oracle of Ogun state politics is known has said to have an axe to grind with Ladi’s father, multibillionaire and lottery boss – Kessignton Adebutu.

The cause of their animosity is said to have roots in the period the former president was in jail, before he became civilian President.

“I think it has to do with support for the former president and his family during those period” a source stated.

Insiders disclosed the “quarrel” had quietly festered over time and it appears the gubernatorial ambition of Adebutu’s son – Ladi is on the receiving end.

“what it means is that Ladi is not even amongst those to be considered by Obasanjo to be blessed with his support and i tell you, like or not – the former president remains a determining influence in the politics of Ogun state” a source disclosed. Ladi, who belongs to the elder state man’s former political platform, People’s Democratic Party is said to be aware of this development but giving his all to achieve his aim.

But he has an uphill task on his hand sources insist.

Within his party, he faces tremendous opposition from major power broker – Senator Kashamu Buruji.

Outside of his party, he is up against the intimidating political machinery of Governor Ibikunle Amosun.

And he equally has the silent but very powerful animosity of chief Obasanjo.

“seeing him beat the odds will be very very interesting” a source opined.
