Why All Eyes Are On Awujale’s May 10 Birthday Celebration

On Friday, May 10, 2024, the revered king Oba Sikiru Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebu, Ogun East will be 90 years old.

The ceremony which is joined with marking the anniversary of his 64th year on the throne started on May 3, 2024, with a Jum’at Service at the Ijebu Ode Central Mosque and a Thanksgiving service at the Cathedral Church of Our Saviour also in Ijebu Ode – in Ogun state – on Sunday, May 5, 2024.

Insiders, however, say the part of the weeklong event that holds the strongest pull is the May 10, 2024, arm which will be held at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye.

“Because President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to attend that particular event and anywhere the president goes all the powerful people in and out of government also go” a source pointed out.

The always-by-himself definition of wealth, Mike Adenuga – native of the town- is also described as a sure attendee.

President Tinubu, the scheduled star guest at the event that a part of the annual celebration of the traditional ruler’s birthday known as the Oba Adetona Professorial Chair Lecture on Governance returned from a foreign trip today, May 8, 2024, ahead of his appearance at Awujale’s birthday.

This year’s edition of the annual lecture will also feature a documentary on the highly respected traditional ruler.

Although the grand final of the 90th birthday and 64th anniversary on the throne celebrations are pegged for Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the Dipo Dina International Stadium Ijebu-Ode for all to make merry, those who should know insists Friday is the unofficial grand finale for many of the power people across sectors.

“All eyes are on May 10, that is the part of the event many people of influence and those who want to see them will attend. Many are already checking and double-checking to determine their chances of seeing those they want to see” society watchers say.
