Why Dapo Abiodun Is Surer Of Stoping Gbenga Daniel’s Senatorial Ambition
came to power on borrowed structures
Governor of Ogun State Dapo Oluseun Abiodun is getting surer of stopping the ambition of Gbenga Daniel, the former Governor of Ogun State.
The former Governor wants to become the Senator representing Ogun East in a move that conflicts with the immediate and long-term ambition of the incumbent Governor.
Abiodun and Daniel are from the same Remo axis in Ogun East and it is against the informal arrangement between Remo and Ijebu – the other axis – for Governor and Senator to come from the same area within the Senatorial district.
Though Daniel is said to have shifted from Remo – where he leveraged to rule Ogun state for a two-term of 8years (29 May 2003 – May 2011) – to his mother’s place in Ijebu (Omu) to reflect a balance in achieving his Senatorial ambition, Governor Abiodun is said to be passionately working to stop the plan.

The Governor is said to be keen to “contain” political influences that would threaten and trouble his second term and ambition beyond office. There are emerging talks Abiodun is eyeing the Ogun East senatorial seat after his second term as part of efforts to consolidate his gains as one of the political powers in Ogun State.
Gbenga Daniel – an established politician in Ogun state – and his senatorial ambition stand in the way of the plan.
SocietyNow.Ng gathered while Abiodun who came to power on borrowed structures and is working hard to prop up his loyalists as persons of influence across the state stands unsure in the fight to stop Gbenga Daniel until recently.

“The recent reconciliation with Senator Lekan Mustapha has made him surer” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.
Aside from being the incumbent Senator representing Ogun East. Mustapha is a more grounded politician than Abiodun and understands the two biggest threats against the Governor – Daniel and immediate past Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
Mustapha was Daniel’s ally in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and was a major player in the political camp of Amosun before he joined Abiodun.

“Lekan Mustapha with his wealth of experience and understanding of the politics of his immediate Ogun East and the state at large is a golden catch for Abiodun and his people and the Governor is very excited by the obvious and inherent gains. It has made his efforts towards the 2023 election, especially stopping Daniel surer. That Mustapha will be retaining his Senatorial ticket for another term is described as the deal sweetener while boasting the Governor’s chances of getting a second term” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.
A video of the welcoming of Lekan Mustapha to the Abiodun camp showed a visibly elated Abiodun.
