You Have Distinguished Yourself As A Responsible Leader — Adebutu Hails Amosun
adding that his contributions to Ogun State remain significant
Oladipupo Adedibutu, the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, has publicly hailed former Governor Ibikunle Amosun of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a “responsible leader” in a birthday message marking Amosun’s 68th birthday.
In a statement released on the day of the former governor’s birthday, Adedibutu described Amosun as a “principled, committed, and responsible leader,” adding that his contributions to Ogun State remain significant and will always be remembered.
“Your good works in our dear state still abound and will always be celebrated,” the PDP leader said.
The message, which has drawn attention for its tone of civility, came at a time when political rivalry in Ogun State remains intense, with both parties preparing for future electoral contests.
Adedibutu’s tribute, however, offered a rare moment of goodwill between two leading figures from opposing political camps.
Adedibutu further prayed for Amosun’s continued health and strength, saying, “As you add another year today, may you continue to enjoy good health, renewed strength, and greater wisdom to keep serving humanity, our dear state and our Nation.”
The birthday message also carried a broader sense of respect for Amosun’s leadership legacy. “You have distinguished yourself as a principled, committed, and responsible leader,” Adedibutu said, emphasizing that the former governor’s service to Ogun State and the nation remains noteworthy.
Amosun, who served as governor of Ogun State from 2011 to 2019, remains an influential figure in the state’s politics.
His continued relevance has been visible in how he is still widely consulted and referenced in political discussions across the state.
While it is not unusual for politicians to exchange goodwill messages on personal occasions, the public nature and tone of Adedibutu’s tribute have been seen by some analysts as a sign of a possible shift toward more practical political “understanding”.
