Ogun At 50: Why Many Eyes Are On Amosun’s Top Man, Muyiwa Oladipo
attention is quietly shifting to a familiar political figure
Ogun State will mark its 50th anniversary on February 3, 2025, with a series of activities already unveiled by the Governor Dapo Abiodun administration.
Beyond the official celebrations, attention is quietly shifting to a familiar political figure: Muyiwa Oladipo, former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly and a key member of the influential Senator Ibikunle Amosun political family.
Sources say Oladipo, a multiple-term commissioner under former Governor Amosun, shares the same date for his birthday, a coincidence that has drawn keen interest from friends and political associates.
“Of course, he turned 50 years ago,” a source noted, “but there is curiosity about how he marks this year, given the significance of the date for the state and recent political developments around SIA.”
SIA—Senator Ibikunle Amosun—last Sunday marked his 68th birthday with a massive grassroots turnout that has reignited conversations about his enduring political clout ahead of the 2027 elections.
Amosun’s open declaration in support of President Bola Tinubu’s second term further amplified the political signals from the event, which insiders say Oladipo played a central role in organising.
