“We Are Going To Take Appropriate Action Against Saraki For Not Honoring Invitation” Police Declare

The Nigerian Police has declared it would take appropriate action against Senate President Bukola Saraki for not honouring invitation for questioning.

“We are treating it as disrespect for the law and nobody is above the law. We will take appropriate action against it.” Police Spokesperson Jimoh Moshood declared while appearing on Channel’s Television’s Sunrise Daily today.

The Senate President was invited by the Police to appear 8.am on Tuesday July 24 for questioning over alleged involvement in the tragic Offer robbery.

About 30 persons lost lives during the ill-fated attacks on banks in Kwara state.

The development has been branded “political” in many quarters.

Curiously yesterday’s- July 24 – invitation coincided with the date of planned defection by Senators from the ruling All Progressives Congress to the opposition People’s Democratic Party during plenary.

The Senate President’s residence was besieged by policemen early in of the day he was supposed to appear before questioning. His convoy was blocked from moving out.

The residence of the Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu was also surrounded by security operatives who reportedly restricted movements in and out of the place.

The Senate President after outwitting the policemen to observe plenary claim the move was aimed at “foiling” planned defection of the 15 Senators who dumped the ruling party for the opposition party.

Some have gone ahead to alleged planned impeachment with plenary scheduled and the Senate President and his deputy absent.

The police hierarchy later issued a statement denies knowledge of deployment of any team to the Senate President or his deputy’s residence. And insist Saraki’s failure to honour Police invitation would be dealt with appropriately.
