Untold Story: How NURTW Chairman MC Oluomo May Emerge A King In Lagos

tells some of the major plays

It is no longer news that Musilliu Akinsanya the chairman of the Lagos state chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) desires to become the Oba of Oshodi.

Oshodi, a flourishing trade area is one of the most lucrative regions of transport union activities in Lagos state.

SocietyNow.Ng gathered that Oshodi which has been in existence for some 300 years has been governed by Baales ( regional – or more popularly village – heads) and the last one died in 1970.

But Oluomo wants to upgrade the title with his ambition to become King.

The information at hand revealed that the attraction of helping to transform the headship position in Oshodi from Baale to Oba (King) is one of the allures MC Oluomo who is a child of the Lagos establishment is using to seduce stakeholders.

The Lagos Establishment is the definition of the different levels of power – with Asiwaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the heart of it – that make things happen in the state.

MC Oluomo a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) sits as joint head of the street muscles of the Lagos Establishment with long-time friend, Seego (real name Mustapha Adekunle ) in the scheme of things.

MC Oluomo as Chairman and Seego as Treasurer are the two most powerful persons in the Lagos NURTW thanks to the backing of the Lagos Establishment.

Seego and M.C Oluomo

“What is clear is that without the backing of the Lagos Establishment and that is the express say-so of Asiwaju Tinubu, MC Oluomo cannot become king…so all those talks that council chairman Kendo (Oshodi/ Isolo Local Government Chairman, Kehinde Almoroof Oloyede) and others will make MC Oluomo King do not hold water” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

Among the wild talks decorating the ambition of MC Oluomo to become king is that new Oshodi/Isolo Council Chairman, Kehinde Almoroof Oloye is pushing the agenda and will have a big say because the agenda directly falls under his purview.

SocietyNow.Ng’s findings, however, dispute these claims.

“There are two things that knock these claims. Asiwaju Tinubu defined as the Lagos Establishment has the final say on who becomes what, including a King in Lagos. Even Kendo will follow the directive. Secondly, MC Oluomo’s ambition to become King pre-dates the ambition and emergence of Kendo as the chairman of Oshodi/Isolo. Yes, you can’t take away from the sentiments that having a Local Government chairman that is his friend in place will help, but this is beyond Kendo” SocietyNow.Ng further learned.

The added revelation available to SocietyNow.Ng tells some of the major plays backing MC Oluomo’s ambition.

“Though his father is from Ejigbo he has maternal ties to the Almoroof family of Oshodi. He wants to become a King in Oshodi based on this and there are precedents for this in Lagos State and, even beyond” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

The information at hand has it that the NURTW Chairman has strongly tied the knots of his ties with the Almoroof family of Oshodi with deep-rooted and far-reaching generosity hence the open backing he is receiving.

SocietyNow.Ng gathered that the NURTW Chairman’s ambition is also shored up with the year 2020 installation of transport unionist Jafo Authority as a first-class traditional ruler in Lagos state.

MC Oluomo and King “afo Authority”

Jafo Authority who took the title name “His Royal Highness Oba Sulaimon Adeshina ( Ilufemiloye Ajagungbade 1)” is the new Oniba Ekun of Ibaland.

Jafo Authority was the chairman of the Lagos state chairman NNAMORAL, the umbrella body for Okada (commercial motorcycle) owners and riders in pioneer transport union body, Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN).

He retained the position after he became the Oniba – a First Class King in Lagos – based on the major revenue he was getting.

SocietyNow.Ng gathered that Jafo Authority’s ascension to the throne of Oniba was oiled by the membership of another organ of the Lagos Establishment – vital but lesser recognized – which convinced Aswiaju Bola Tinubu to sign-off.

“MC Oluomo is better positioned than Jafo in the Lagos Establishment and has a far stronger rating in the transport union business though they operate in different associations. And to cap it, MC Oluomo has direct access to the source of power” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

SocietyNow.Ng learned that the deal before MC Oluomo is simple and it is the same template usually used to get Tinubu’s support when the political leader doesn’t want to appear partisan.

“The template is, make yourself popular in your area of interest with verifiable proofs of your strong loyalty to the Lagos establishment and that is what MC Oluomo is hard at work doing regarding his ambition to become a King in Lagos” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

Related information at hand has it that MC Oluomo still has the opportunity to contest another term as the NURTW Chairman in Lagos state before he is ruled out of contention according to the union’s constitution.
