The ambition of the President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) to become a king has transformed into an open dare against Governor Dapo Abiodun.

Four months ago, Baruwa backed a splinter group to obtain what is labeled “Judgment” – talked about but not seen – on Mosa Anjuwon, a part of the Balogun / Onjuwon area of Ota, Ogun State axis where he wants to be King.

The “Judgment” paved way for boys protecting his interest to storm the area and “forcefully” take over control.

The ploy is to have legal backing for the installation of Baruwa as King by the splinter group societynow.ng learned.

On August 21, 2021, the Government of Dapo Abiodun banned dredging and sand mining activities in Ogun state with immediate effect.

“No government worth its salt will allow these few individuals because of their economic gains, put the health and well-being of the general populace in danger thorough their activities which most times are illegal,” a statement by Ola Oresanya, special adviser to Ogun state governor on environment which explains that the dredging and sand mining activities constitute environmental nuisance and degradations in various parts of the state.

Societynow.ng gathered that around this time, the boys in Mosa Onjuwon protecting the interest of Baruwa not getting as much income as anticipated from “tasking” those inhabiting the land delved into Dredging and Mining of Sand.

“And they have been at it ever since despite the Government’s ban in place” societynow.ng learned.

Their activities have reportedly created a huge imbalance in the landscape.

“And the heavy vehicles that come to dredge the sand and trailers and trucks that come to take it away turned the road to the place into a nightmare, especially in this season of rain” societynow.ng further learned.

“The most saddening thing is that, they are carrying out these illegal activities right at the entrance to the town and by a major road that is part of a long stretch that links Ota to Idiroko road to the old Lagos to Abeokuta Expressway. They are already compounding the work the government would need to do on that axis. It is a mess that will require major efforts to repair if a quick stop is not put to it” according to findings.

Societynow.ng gathered that as things stand, motorcycles now find it difficult to pass through the once pliable road for all vehicles, not talk of cars.

While the activities that contravene the directive of Governor Abiodun are being carried out at the side of two entry points into Mosa Onjuwon, the road that is bearing the consequence of these illegalities directly links the area to Ilogbo, Ota Ogun State Societynow.ng learned.
