There is tension in the land, Ekiti state that is.

Minister Kayode Fayemi has finally decided to contest the 2018 gubernatorial election.

The former governor wants to succeed the man who didn’t let him conclude back to back two terms as Governor of Ekiti state.

He lost to Ayo Fayose as a sitting governor in the last gubernatorial election.

And four years later he wants to reclaim the mandate in the upcoming July 14, 2018, Ekiti State gubernatorial election.

And the serving minister for steel wants to put to rest speculations about his ambition with a grand declaration.

The big day is disclosed as Friday, March 30, 2018.

And preparations are said to be in top gear towards this major step in returning Fayemi to power as Governor of Ekiti state.

Insiders disclosed to societynow “the plan is to shut down state capital Ado Ekiti with a talk of the town event”.

Details have it the event would parade top entertainers including musicians and movie stars.

Powerful players in the politics of Ekiti state and stakeholders in the ruling All Progressives Congress are also penciled to grace the occasion.

Informants claim there is growing tension in Ekiti as details of the upcoming event filter out.

“Obviously, opponents within and outside APC are not comfortable with the kind of strong signal he intends to send out with the planned mega declaration” an insider disclosed.

Though insiders claim with his strong clout within the APC, especially at the national level there are strong indications getting his party’s gubernatorial ticket would be a walkover for Fayemi – but he still faces a challenge from party men Senator Babafemi Ojudu, Segun Oni, Opeyemi Bamidele and other popular figures.

Sources claim Fayemi with his planned mega gubernatorial declaration wants to tell the world he is the man to beat in Ekiti politics with the kind of crowd he intends to muster.

A move that is already unsettling stakeholders within and outside his party.
