Irreplaceable Loss – Olu Of Ilaro Laments Demise Of Veteran Actor Ogogo
Nollywood actor and theatre icon, Alhaji Taiwo Hassan, widely known as Ogogo.
The Paramount Ruler of Yewaland and Olu of Ilaro, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, has commiserated with the family, friends, and the entire Yewa community over the passing of veteran Nollywood actor and theatre icon, Alhaji Taiwo Hassan, widely known as Ogogo.
In a condolence message signed by his Special Assistant on Media & Strategic Communications, Adeola Adeyemi, the monarch described the late actor—who held the chieftaincy title of Otun Mayegun of Ilaro—as a distinguished cultural ambassador who projected the richness of Yoruba heritage to global acclaim.
Oba Olugbenle lamented the death of the respected thespian, describing him as “a man who carried Yewaland in his heart” “For Ilaro and indeed Yewaland, his death has created a vacuum that can never truly be filled,” the royal father stated.
Adding, “There are people whose presence becomes part of the identity of a community, and Ogogo was one of such people.”
The monarch lauded the late film veteran for his unwavering commitment to community development and the preservation of indigenous arts, noting that his warmth, accessibility, and genuine love for his people endeared him across generations.
Oba Olugbenle urged the bereaved family and the community to take solace in the impactful life the late actor lived and the enduring legacies he left behind, praying that Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings and grants him eternal rest in Al-Jannatul Firdaus
