The echoes of the famous midnight clash between Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike and security operatives that prevented the arrest of a serving judge,Uche Ogumuo is still very much on.
Emerging details have it there are strong indications the Rivers state Governor camped the team that confronted the Department of State Services agents, complemented with police support at the judge’s residence well ahead of the operation.
The DSS around midnight Friday October 7 2016 engaged in a nationwide take down of allegedly corrupt judges.
The event which spiralled into early hours of Saturday September 8 2016 saw some Supreme Court judges in the clutches of the DSS courtesy of the sting operation.
But the target of the DSS in Rivers state, Justice Uche Ogumuo evaded arrest as a result of a talk of the town confrontation between Governor Wike and security operatives.

Governor Wike in achieving his aim had stormed the Force Avenue, Port Harcourt residence with a collection of backers at about midnight.
Fresh details revealed the formation the Rivers state helmsman’s crew to be made up of ‘’members of his cabinet, state legislators, members and supporters of his People’s Democratic Party and personal loyalists’’.

The DSS team that came to arrest the embattled judge was reportedly made up of five operatives.

Informants claimed about 85 percent of the ‘’people’’ Governor Wike stormed the venue of the sting operation with were with him earlier in the evening at the Rivers state government house.
They are said to have trooped in and stayed with the Rivers state Chief Executive officer as early as 9p.m in the evening of the operation.
‘’That is the bulk of the group Wike moved in with to prevent arrest of the judge..a few others just joined them at the scene’’ societynowng.com learnt.
And insider claimed the way the governor and his backers moved, it was like they were prepared and waiting for a signal and immediately they got it…sprang into action.
Further revelation also unmasked why Governor Wike also refused to heed entreaties by Rivers state Commissioner of Police, Francis Odesanya to allow security agents effect the arrest of the targeted judge.
Commissioner of police Odesanya arrived the force avenue place of sting Operation at about 2.a.m, after Wike and his crew had engaged the DSS team in a manner the Rivers state governor claimed he sustained injury.
Odesanya on arrival had tried to persuade the governor to allow the law take its course.
The Rivers state front man refused – a development that forced the CP to order his men to pull out of the operation and operate as peace maker.
A source who should know disclosed while why the Rivers state governor rebuffed entreaties from the state commissioner of police to allow the DSS arrest the judge.
‘’He believes the Commissioner of Police is against his interest, in fact from what i heard Wike greatly kicked against making CP Odesanya head of the Rivers state police command’’ a source disclosed.
The Governor’s antagonism to the Commissioner of police is reportedly rooted in the latter’s background.
Odesanya was at different times a top level police officer in Lagos, Edo, Ogun and Rivers States before he attained his present professional status.
‘’These are states controlled by the ruling All Progressives Congress, you know Wike is Peoples Democratic Party…that is the root his present antagonism of the Commissioner of Police’’ an insider revealed.
‘’That is why there was no way he would heed the request of the CP during the confrontation, even if it was the most obvious thing to prevent a bloody clash’’ another source claimed
Societynowng.com gathered while refusing arrest, Judge Ogumuo insisted she would not open her doors until Saturday morning.
The DSS operatives however abandoned the mission when obviously alerted by Wike’s handlers and other sources media men stormed the place of altercation and attempted to’’ photograph’’ the agents and their boss.
The move by the media men and other stakeholders who thronged the place at about 4.am Saturday October 8 2016 resulted in another skirmish with the DSS team.
The agents wanted to maintain the anonymity of their ‘’boss’’ and had to pull out of the scene when the media men remained adamant on taking his picture.
The police team however remained till Wike and his cohorts departed the scene as well – and the Commissioner of Police ordered a team of officers to stay and maintain the peace at the Judge’s residence.
