Details: Saraki Tells Buhari Why Indefinite Suspension Of Twitter Must Be Reversed
Minister for information Lai Mohammed announced the suspension on the heels of Twitter’s delete of a post by the President
Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has revealed why President Muhamamdu Buhari must review the announcement of an indefinite suspension of social media platform Twitter by his administration.
The minister for information Lai Mohammed announced the suspension on the heels of Twitter’s delete of a post by the President it found offensive and threatening against a tribe.
Mohammed accused Twitter of undue interference in the country’s affairs and barely twenty- four hours later announced the indefinite suspension of the operations of the highly popular platform that was used to muster the agitation that helped the Buhari administration to power in 2015 and win re-election in 2019.
Lending his voice to reasons why the development is all shades of wrong, Saraki said in a short post stated
“No Sir! This should not be the response from the president of a nation with a vibrant youthful population for whom #Twitter is part of their daily lives and a source of their income and livelihood.”
Saraki who played a prominent role in the election of Buhari as President in 2015 transformed into a major player in the opposition party, People Democratic (PDP) ahead of the 2019 election in which the President secured re-election.
Buhari came to power – and secured another term – on the bill of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
