The Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi A. Sule, on Saturday led the government, traditional leaders, and people of the state in a solemn 7-day prayer session for the peaceful repose of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The prayer, held at the Emir’s Palace in Lafia, brought together eminent stakeholders including his deputy, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, former Nasarawa State Governors, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu and Sen. Umaru Tanko Al-Makura; Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dalandi Jatau; Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Labaran Shuaibu Magaji, PhD; Chief Judge of the State; State APC Chairman, Dr. Aliyu Bello; members of the National Assembly; and the Emir of Lafia and Chairman, Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs, HRH Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad I (Rtd), alongside other traditional rulers.

The governor, in his remarks, prayed for Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive the shortcomings of the late President, accept his good deeds, and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus. He praised President Buhari’s enduring legacy of patriotism, integrity, and commitment to national development, emphasizing the late leader’s affection for the people of Nasarawa State.

As a mark of honour, Engr. Sule announced that the Nasarawa State Government is working on a legislative proposal to rename the recently dualized Shendam Road in Lafia as Muhammadu Buhari Way. He said the move is aimed at immortalizing the late President’s contributions to national unity, peace, and progress, especially his visible impacts on the development trajectory of Nasarawa State.

The event reflected a spirit of unity and reverence, as clerics, traditional leaders, political stakeholders, and citizens gathered to remember and pray for a leader whose influence and service transcended generations.
