President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm congratulations to Abdul Samad Rabiu, on the occasion of his 65th birthday, describing him as a visionary entrepreneur, devoted philanthropist, and trusted national partner.

In a tribute marking the milestone, the President hailed the Chairman of BUA Group as a figure of “quiet excellence, courageous enterprise, and unwavering faith in Nigeria,” noting that his impact transcends business into the heart of national development.

Born on August 4, 1960, in Kano, the leading philanthropist has built a legacy as one of Africa’s most accomplished industrialists.

Through BUA Group, founded in 1988, he has transformed critical sectors of the Nigerian economy—including cement, sugar, flour, real estate, ports, power, and more recently, oil and gas. What began as a commodity trading venture has grown into a conglomerate that includes BUA Cement Plc and BUA Foods, both listed and thriving.

These businesses have created thousands of jobs and strengthened Nigeria’s industrial capacity and economic resilience.

President Tinubu praised Rabiu for his calm leadership and deep-rooted belief in Nigeria’s potential, stating that his enterprises have restored confidence in indigenous manufacturing and local enterprise. “Abdul Samad Rabiu is a builder in every sense,” the President said. And added, “He has built industries, empowered people, uplifted communities, and continues to invest in the future of our country—not for applause, but out of duty and conviction.”

The President also acknowledged the far-reaching impact of the Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa), which continues to deliver landmark interventions across education, healthcare, and social development.

From rebuilding heritage sites like the Zaria Central Mosque to constructing oncology and pediatric centres and funding public health responses, ASR Africa reflects Rabiu’s commitment to quietly but consistently improving lives, strengthening institutions, and expanding access to opportunity.

“As we celebrate this milestone, we also celebrate a legacy,” the President said. “A legacy of purpose-driven ambition, selfless giving, and quiet nation-building.” He expressed confidence that Rabiu’s story—as a patriot, philanthropist, and industrialist—will inspire future generations of Nigerians.

At 65, Abdul Samad Rabiu remains a living testament to what it means to build, empower, uplift, and invest—with vision, discipline, and a deep sense of national duty the President affirmed.
