Lawyer Pelumi Olajengbesi has raised concerns over the death of Nigerian gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, describing him as a good man and questioning the circumstances surrounding his passing.

Toluwanisings died in the early hours of Wednesday, October 14, 2026, according to a statement confirming his death by his family.
Reacting to the development, Olajengbesi lamented what he described as Nigeria’s recurring loss of lives amid poor emergency response and inadequate healthcare facilities.

“Nigeria, what a failed nation. Every day, the dead cry for the dead,” the Federal House representative candidate wrote, adding “We have lost a good man, a shining star, a modern-day prophet, hardworking and diligent.”

The lawyer expressed concern over the difficulties Nigerians face in accessing quality healthcare, arguing that poor emergency services and inadequately equipped hospitals continued to expose patients to avoidable risks.

“Nigeria has lost too many people, old and young, to poor emergency response and a poor healthcare system. Access to quality healthcare is not guaranteed,” the staunch ally of Governor Ademola Adeleke asserted.

He added that some hospitals turned patients away when they believed they lacked the equipment required to handle serious emergencies.

Describing the singer’s death as devastating, Olajengbesi said the loss had left many people in disbelief.

“Toluwanisings sadly died in the early hours of yesterday. A shining light to the world went out abruptly. The world is still in disbelief,” he said.

Beyond his career as a gospel minister, the lawyer described Toluwanisings as a man of good character and called on his friends and professional colleagues to support his bereaved family.

“Beyond being a gospel minister, Tolu was a good man. I call on his friends and colleagues to stand by his family and ensure they are well supported and protected,” he urged.

Olajengbesi also made a striking remark about the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death, urging people to pay attention.

“And please watch… His death was not ordinary,” he added.

However, no evidence establishing suspicious circumstances surrounding the singer’s death was contained in the family’s announcement.

In its statement, the family announced the passing of Minister Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji of Toluwani Gospel Music Ministry (TOGOMM), asking the public to remember his wife, relatives and loved ones in their prayers.

“With deep sorrow, the family announces the passing of Minister Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, Toluwani Gospel Music Ministry (TOGOMM), who passed away in the early hours of 14 October 2026,” the statement read.

The family did not disclose the cause of death but said funeral arrangements would be announced in due course.

Toluwanisings was known for his energetic praise songs and contemporary gospel sound. His death has left fans and members of the gospel music community mourning the loss of a singer whose ministry touched many lives.

As tributes continue to emerge, Olajengbesi’s comments have also drawn attention to wider concerns about emergency medical services and access to timely healthcare in Nigeria.
