One Million Votes for Tinubu — Olajengbesi Reveals Seyi Tinubu’s Role In Osun Plan

A chieftain of the Accord Party in Osun State and candidate for the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has disclosed plans to mobilise over one million votes for President Bola Tinubu in Osun State at the next presidential election.

Olajengbesi, who was a prominent member of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election campaign team, made the disclosure after a meeting with Seyi Tinubu, son of the President.

He linked the proposed mobilisation to what he described as the reconciliation achieved in Osun State following Adeleke’s re-election and the governor’s expressed commitment to President Tinubu, who retains the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“With the reconciliation achieved in Osun State and the commitment expressed by Governor Ademola Adeleke towards President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our political objective is clear, to mobilise over one million votes for President Tinubu in Osun State in the next presidential election,” Olajengbesi declared.

He also praised Seyi Tinubu for what he described as his support for young Nigerians and his position during the August 15 Osun governorship election.

“Thank you, Seyi Tinubu for being a leader, brother and friend. I deeply appreciate the encouragement, the push and the support you have consistently extended to me, as well as your fair position during the Osun State governorship election,” he stated.

Olajengbesi described Seyi Tinubu as “one of the most consequential bets young Nigerians have had around this administration,” arguing that he had chosen to engage young people rather than remain distant from public expectations.

“He had options. He could have chosen a quieter life, kept his distance from the pressures of public expectations and focused entirely on his personal pursuits,” he explained, adding.“Instead, he has consistently chosen to engage with young people, strengthen the negotiating power of our generation, support aspirations, open doors, build relationships and invest in possibilities. Please don’t stop.”

The comments come against the backdrop of a major political realignment in Osun, where Adeleke left the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and joined Accord ahead of the 2026 governorship election. The governor subsequently secured re-election on the Accord platform with 511,067 votes against the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate Bola Oyebamiji’s 444,815 votes.

Olajengbesi was a prominent member of Adeleke’s campaign machinery during the transition, serving as spokesperson for the governor’s re-election campaign and emerging as one of the public faces of the political mobilisation that delivered Adeleke’s second-term victory.

The political configuration has since produced an unusual alignment ahead of 2027, with Adeleke, who contested the 2026 governorship election on the Accord platform, expressing support for Tinubu’s re-election.

Olajengbesi said the new political atmosphere in the state presented an opportunity to mobilise support for the President.

“Nigeria is a young country, and no government can truly succeed without deliberately creating space for young people to participate, lead, innovate and prosper,” he emphasized.

His comments also carry significance for his own political future, as he prepares to contest the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency seat on the Accord platform.

Olajengbesi secured the Accord ticket for the constituency in May and has positioned his candidacy around youth representation and what he describes as the need for fresh leadership.

He is set to face a major political battle against Oluwole Oke, the incumbent federal lawmaker who is flying the APC flag in the constituency.
Oke, a former PDP member, has represented the constituency in the House of Representatives since 2003 and is seeking another term under the APC, having joined the ruling party from the PDP earlier in 2026. He is one of the longest-serving members of the National Assembly.

The contest therefore places two former members of the PDP on opposite sides of the 2027 race, with Olajengbesi now seeking the seat on the platform of Accord and Oke contesting under the APC.

Olajengbesi has previously argued that the 2026 governorship election offered an indication of the political contest ahead, pointing to Accord’s combined 33,366 votes against APC’s 30,983 votes across Oriade and Obokun during the governorship poll.

But his latest intervention shifts the focus beyond the federal constituency contest to the broader presidential election, with the Accord politician openly declaring a target of more than one million votes for Tinubu in a state where the President polled 343,945 votes in the 2023 presidential election.

Olajengbesi said the objective would require sustained engagement with young Nigerians and deliberate political mobilisation.
