If Wole Oke Wins A Ward In Oriade/Obokun, I Will Apologize On My Knees, Stop Politics — Olajengbesi
while reacting to recent political developments in Osun State.
Lawyer and Accord Party chieftain, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has expressed confidence that veteran lawmaker Wole Oke will struggle to retain political relevance in Oriade/Obokun, declaring that he would quit politics if the former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stalwart wins even a ward in the constituency during future election.
Olajengbesi made the remarks while reacting to recent political developments in Osun State.
According to the lawyer cum politician, Oke’s influence in the constituency has been overstated and would be tested whenever voters are called upon to make their choice at the polls.
“If Wole Oke should win a ward in Oriade/Obokun, I will apologize on my knees and stop politics,” Olajengbesi said.
He argued that political support in the constituency has shifted significantly in recent years and maintained that Oke’s electoral strength would not match public perceptions.
“If Wole Oke should win a ward in Oriade/Obokun, i swear Wole Oke should win a ward in ORIADE/OBOKUN I will apologize on my knees and stop politics,” he declared emphatically.
Olajengbesi also dismissed suggestions that Oke played a decisive role in the emergence of Governor Ademola Adeleke, insisting that the governor’s popularity and grassroots support were the major factors behind his electoral success.
“We will prove it in this election,” he said.
The election he is referring to is the upcoming August 2026 Osun state gubernatorial contest.
Oke, a multiple-term member of the House of Representatives representing Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency, recently left the PDP for the APC amid a prolonged political face-off with Governor Adeleke and his supporters.
Political observers have linked the move to his bid to secure another term in the National Assembly.
Olajengbesi, on the other hand, is one of the most vocal supporters of Governor Adeleke and currently serves as spokesperson for the governor’s re-election campaign ahead of the August governorship election in Osun State.
He is also a leading figure in the Accord Party and is expected to challenge Oke politically in the 2027 elections.
A former member of the PDP alongside Oke, Olajengbesi joined the Accord Party as part of the political realignment that followed Adeleke’s departure from the PDP amid legal uncertainties surrounding the party.
In recent months, Olajengbesi has emerged as one of the prominent voices advocating a change of representation in Oriade/Obokun, and the face of the movement seeking to end Oke’s lengthy tenure in the House of Representatives.
