ASR Africa Donates N250m Administrative Block To Usmanu Danfodiyo University
officially commissioned and handed over to the university
The Abdul Samad Rabiu Initiative for Africa (ASR Africa) has donated a N250 million administrative block to the College of Health Sciences of Usmanu Danfodiyo University (UDUS), Sokoto State, as part of efforts to strengthen infrastructure in Nigeria’s tertiary education sector.
The facility, named Abdul Samad Rabiu Admin Block, was officially commissioned and handed over to the university on November 4, 2026, at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) complex in Sokoto.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Bashir Garba, described the intervention as historic, commending ASR Africa Chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu, for his sustained contributions to education and other areas of social development.
Garba said: “I believe I am the most fortunate public servant because wherever I go as a public servant in the State to head an institution, I regularly encounter the impact of the donations by ASR Africa through its Chairman.”
He said the new facility was another example of the initiative’s contributions to institutional development, assuring the organisation that the university would make effective use of the building.

According to him, the administrative block also supported the university during an accreditation exercise conducted by the Medical and Dental Council, complementing existing infrastructure required for the assessment.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ASR Africa, Dr. Ubon Udoh, said the project was among 30 grants awarded to 30 universities across Nigeria under the initiative’s tertiary education grants scheme.
He said Usmanu Danfodiyo University scored highly in the initiative’s assessment process, adding that ASR Africa looked forward to further partnerships with the institution.

The building comprises 20 staff offices, including an office for the departmental head, a panel room, staff conveniences and storage facilities. It is expected to provide improved working spaces for teaching, research and administrative activities.
Established in 2021 by Nigerian industrialist and BUA Group Chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu, ASR Africa focuses on sustainable interventions in health, education and social development across Africa.
