After days of underground speculations and different shades of talks, Heyden Oil boss Dapo Abiodun has publicly declared an interest in becoming the next Governor of Ogun state.

He waves aside talks of possible lack of support from incumbent Governor – and good friend – Ibikunle Amosun in his latest move.

Dapo Abiodun has been decorated with talks of Ogun gubernatorial ambition for as far back as many can remember.

The politician who lost out to Kashamu Buruji, in his bid to become Ogun Senator on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in the last general election, made public his interest in the Ogun Governorship position on Friday, August 18, 2018.

The declaration was made at Abiodun’s Iperu Remo Ogun state home.

Abiodun while acknowledging the good work of the current administration headed by his political leader, Governor Amosun promised that “If elected in 2019, I will run masses-oriented programmes, and will de-emphasise projects which will only give me visibility but would not add any value to the lives of the masses in the state.

“I will open up the roads in the rural communities, in order to improve the fortunes of the people in the rural communities. They need to bring their farm products to the market.

“If there are good rural roads, the farmers will get their farm products to the market in good time and they will make money.  I will link the towns and the rural communities.”

Speaking on Governor Amosun’s open support for his successor to come from Yewa, the minority area yet to produce a governor since the creation of Ogun state, the gubernatorial aspirant insists all contestants should be allowed to participate in the shadow election to determine party’s flag bearer.

The Heyden oil boss played down the agitation of the Yewa people asserting ‘’ “every zone has had its fair share and chances at producing governor of the state.”
