Students Unrest Against Gov Amosun Laid To Rest As 17 Are Arraigned For Assault, Vandalisation

The planned prolong protest against the governor of Ogun state Ibikunle Amosun by students of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic is over.

This is thanks to the arraignment of seventeen students of the institution for vandalization and unlawful assault and obstruction of justice at an Abeokuta Magistrate Court.

The students were arrested in the course of what is termed ‘’Violent Protest’’ against the governor.

They protest termed ‘’Black Week’’ by the students’ Leaders was originally meant to address the inability to write examinations – forcing an extension of their programmes.

‘’Black Week’’ protest which started from the governor office in Oke Mosan targetted holding the state capital to ransom by paralyzing activities at earmarked economic nerve centers.

Things went awry reports of ‘’things getting out of hand’’ forced law enforcers to step in.

The engagement between the police and students resulted in the arrest of 17 students for vandalism, obstruction of justice and unlawful assault.

They were arraigned on Thursday, December 21, 2017, and granted bail in the sum of N500.000 and two sureties in like sum.

The developments put a stop to the protests which rocked Abeoukuta while it lasted.
