What looks like a home run for Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, Lagos senator contesting the 2023 election as one of the candidates of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun state may be in for a harsh break.
Adeola popularly known as Yayi against all odds overcame opposition within the APC in Ogun state to emerge as the party’s candidate for Ogun West senatorial seat. He picked the ticket while still representing Lagos West in the national assembly.
SocietyNow.Ng gathered he is, however, in for a sterner political battle outside his party.
Information at hand revealed that the main opposition party, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has thrown up a very formidable opponent against Senator Yayi in the battle for Ogun West’s senatorial seat.
The PDP’s candidate is chief Ganiyu Adeleke Dada, a very grounded member of the Olota-In- Council.
The Olota -In-Council is made up of the inner-caucus members of the esteem Awori king, Olota of Ota Oba, AbdulKabir Adeyemi Obalanlege.
Dada, 60, ascended the position on the wings of being the very influential Oluwo Itoki of Ota Awori kingdom.
SocietyNow.Ng gathered that the son of the immensely popular “Obanibasiri” (Wahidi Ishola Omo Dada) the subject of superlative renditions by master musician Haruna Ishola is also a major player in the politics of Ogun Stat.
Information available revealed that before he switched to the PDP, the holder of Bachelor of Science degree – combined (Hons) in Economics and Politics – from the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth played a huge role in the elections of Senator Ibikunle Amosun as Governor of Ogun state – 2011 to 2019 – as well as the winnings of past Ogun West senators Akin Odunsi and Gbolahan Dada.

Added information has it that the chairman of Aldrem Ventures Limited who also possesses a Master’s in Business Administration from the Cardiff Business School, University of Wales is a very popular helping hand in the Ado/Odo Local Government, the council area whose votes swallow those of others in Ogun West.
SocietyNow.Ng gathered that it is also to the gain of one of the leading lights of the well-known Ikowogbe Ruling House in Ota that he has started enjoying the sympathy of those who failed to stop Senator Yayi from picking the APC senatorial ticket.
“Chief Dada has his roots in APC and many associates and friends over there and many of them were sidelined for Yayi to come from Lagos to pick the party’s senatorial ticket. And they are not happy. The talks are that the PDP candidate who is a force to be reckoned with on his own will reap bountifully from the APC situation. Senator Yayi based on mentions is one of the most popular politicians in Ogun State, particularly Ogun West in recent.
