The gloves are being taken off in Ogun state as the 2023 election nears.

And some popular political ambitions are experiencing threats from different quarters.

One of them is that of Senator from Lagos state, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola popularly known as “Yayi”.

Yayi after holding different elective positions in Lagos state for some twenty years- and on his second term as a Senator – wants to occupy the Ogun West Senatorial position in 2023.

His ambition is emboldened by the forces that helped incumbent Governor Dapo Abiodun to power.

And the Governor is also openly backing the ambition of Yayi to transform from a Lagos Senator to Ogun Senator in 2023 – although added information claims “recent inactions” has doused the passion behind this assertion.

But a major opposition has erupted in the camp backing him.

Yayi

Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, the serial Gubernatorial candidate wants to boost his chances at clinching an elective position by narrowing his political ambition to a sectional bid.

Isiaka better known as GNI (acronym of his name ) who has transformed into a well-known name with a formidable political structure in his base wants to become the Senator representing Ogun West.

Ogun West is his political base and a testament of his clout is apparent in his political party, African Democratic Congress (ADC) clinching a Federal House of Representatives position as well three state House of Assembly seats in Yewa in the last general election (2019).

He came third as the candidate of the ADC in the 2019 Ogun state gubernatorial in what is widely speculated as a spoiler role that helped All Progressives Congress (APC) beat Allied People’s Movement (APM) to the Governorship position in the keenly contested election before joining the administration of the winner – Governor Dapo Abiodun.

GNI who is believed to have “suffered political neglect” within the Abiodun administration has decided to concentrate his resources on the sectional agenda of Senatorial ambition to bolster his chances of occupying an elective position post the 2023 election SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

GNI Isiaka

The decision puts him in a headlong challenge against Lagos senator Yayi in the fight for the APC senatorial ticket for Ogun West from the same faction. The development is tagged a major threat against the Lagos Senator’s ambition.

SocietyNow.Ng learned that from another faction and also eyeing the same senatorial ticket is Tolu Odebiyi, the incumbent Senator.

Odebiyi who is a staunch member of the former Governor Ibikunle Amosun led faction of Ogun state APC wants to retain his seat and to achieve this, like GNI, needs to stop the ambition of Adeola Yayi to become a Senator.

Odebiyi

Odebiyi has the added advantage of the backing of the formidable Amosun’s long reach supporting his bid.

SocietyNow.Ng gathered that it is an advantage to Adebiyi and GNI Isiaka that they have an edge of a scandal-free indigene status though GNI is said to be the more formidable – politically.

Yayi, Odebiyi and GNI though from different parts – are launching their ambition for Yewa area of Ogun West.
