Gubernatorial aspirant of factionalized People’s Democratic Party in Ogun state, Ladi Adebutu has revealed the reason he may not contest – and even support the ambition of his opponent within his party.
In a recent interview Adebutu disclosed that if the court rules in favor of the Senator Buruji Kashamu led faction as the authentic PDP structure in Ogun state, he would throw his weight behind them.
Adebutu in the interview insisted what is important is for the PDP to win Ogun state and for Atiku Abubakar to become the next president of Nigeria.
‘’I am willing to work him (Kashamu) if the court gives him victory” Adebutu asserted in the interview he had on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily last week.
Societynow.ng gathered the Kashamu faction of the PDP already has a gubernatorial candidate and party’s flag bearers for all other elective position ahead of the 2019 general election.
Interestingly, the Kashamu’s faction – though not reckoned with at the national level of the PDP – is the one recognized by INEC until now.
Though expelled from the PDP by the party’s leadership, Kashamu is holding on to the party structure in Ogun state via court order.
Adebutu and party’s leadership are challenging Kashamu’s hold on the Ogun state structure in court.
The development currently threatens the party’s ability to field candidates for elective positions as the deadline by INEC lapses, while the court cases rage.
