It is no longer news that President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed his son in law, Junaid Abdullahi as the head of Nigeria’s Border Communities Development Agency.

It is also no longer news that the development has put him into ‘’trouble with critics” and further armed opposition against his administration – and re-election move.

Checks by societynow.ng revealed how the President got into this latest mess.

Insiders confirmed the appointment given to the President’s son in law is usually announced by the Presidency or through the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

“And the appointments are made known before assumption of office by the appointee” societynow.ng learned.

But in a curious twist, the Presidency and office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation maintain sealed lips days after Abdullahi, a captain has assumed office and started carrying out official duties.

The reports monitored by societynow.ng revealed that President Buhari’s son in law assumed office on October 19.

‘’Without commenting on the competence of Abdullahi, the circumstances surrounding his appointment is the root cause of the raging controversy” a source pointed out.

Abdullahi took over from Jummai Idakwo, the former director of the agency was married to Zulaihat,Buhari’s first daughter who died in 2012 from complications arising from childbirth.

The shadowy appointment of Abdullahi as the head of Nigeria’s Border Communities Development Agency has further given wind to the storm of allegations of nepotism against President Buhari.
