Sources insist, Femi Otedola, the billionaire oilman has gubernatorial ambition.

And as reported days back, his goal is to become the next Governor of Lagos state.

The son of former Lagos Governor Michael Otedola is said to be exploring the uncertainty pervading the re-election moves of incumbent state helmsman Akinwunmi Ambode.

Ambode is decorated with talks of “party leadership” not willing to give him mandate for another term.

He is accused of “freezing out” all other players and attempt to “hijack” control of the party in his first term.

Otedola -though yet not confirmed to be a card-carrying member of any political party – is being quietly posed as a’’ veritable alternative’’ by those with economic interests in the state.

Insiders claim his recent surge in public profile is part of the game plan.

And that his quiet ‘’disentanglement’’ from his money makers – to shield him from economic threats – is another giant step in the same direction.

Sources claimed his self-confessed ‘’friend and mentor’’ Alhaji Aliko Dangote is providing ‘’huge backing ‘’ for the gubernatorial project.

And that in the know claim it is purely for business reasons.

Dangote targets annual N8trillion revenue from his mind-blowing investment in the Lekki Free Zone and is keen to have a trusted man in the seat of power to provide ‘’political cover’’.

According to a source, ‘’Otedola’s ambition is largely an economic affair, he wants to bring a business approach to governance and spread prosperity … and negotiation playing it up as such with political decision makers are said to be ongoing’’.

Further revelation has it that ”like mind” money men have stated quietly lining up support for Otedola’s gubernatorial ambition.

the consensus of opinion is said to be that politics and governance are too volatile investment boosters to be left in the hands of ”politicians”.
