Lagos Declares Thursday Work-Free For Isese Day
for public servants across the state
The Lagos State Government has declared Thursday, August 20, 2026, a work-free day for public servants across the state to commemorate this year’s Isese Day celebration.
The declaration was made by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as part of the state government’s efforts to promote indigenous culture and tradition and preserve Lagos’ rich cultural heritage.
According to the state government, public servants are expected to resume work on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 8:00 a.m.
The Isese Day celebration is observed to honour Yoruba indigenous culture, traditions and heritage.
