A series of actions taken by Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa, the President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) indicate that he is at odds with MC Oluomo (real name Musiliu Akinsanya) the Chairman of the Lagos state chapter of the transport union.

“One of those actions was making Instijabah (Abdul-Azeez Abiola ) the state coordinator of TOOAN “ SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

TOOAN is the Tricycle Owners and Operators Association of Nigeria.

Appointing Instijabah state coordinator of TOOAN is directly against the interest of MC Oluomo but to the benefit of former chairman Tajudeen Agbede SocietyNow.Ng learned.

Agbede who served a two-term of eight years as the Lagos state chairman of NURTW made an intense but futile effort to stop MC Oluomo from succeeding him.

Agbede

Agbede’s fingerprints are said to be all over how Istijabah emerged Lagos state coordinator of TOOAN – a move that reduces the influence of MC Oluomo’s office as Chairman.

SocietyNow.Ng gathered that MC Oluomo appointed five zonal coordinators – including Istijabah – for TOOAN in Lagos state after he took office in 2019.

The decision allegedly taken with the backing of the National President was to empower more players within the NURTW.

“But the appointment of Istijabah as sole coordinator reverses MC Oluomo’s appointment and makes all the other coordinators his subordinates” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

The added details available revealed that Baruwa also directed making certain persons who lost out in the process that brought MC Oluomo to office executive members of the Lagos state NURTW.

Baruwa

These persons are said to be loyal to Agbede.

“It is like Buhari selecting cabinet members for Sanwo-Olu and the chosen persons are loyal to the governor’s chief tormentor” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

Information at hand revealed that although Baruwa insists that the move is to “broker peace in Lagos State”, MC Oluomo and his loyalists see the recent actions in another light.

“They see it as a backdoor attempt by Agbede to hijack the Lagos NURTW with Baruwa as a willing tool” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

Agbede was appointed Vice President of the NURTW after he lost the number one spot by Baruwa.

MC Oluomo

“Interestingly MC Oluomo backed Baruwa against Agbede but how Agbede found a way to be chummy with Baruwa to the point of troubling Oluomo remains a mystery” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

MC Oluomo took office as Chairman of the Lagos chapter of the NURTW in September 2019 a couple of weeks after he contributed to the emergence of Baruwa as National President.
