Fuel Subsidy Probe Chairman, Farouk Lawan Allegedly Caught Receiving Bribe From Zenon Oil Agent!

Powerful Law maker, Farouk Lawan is entangled in a web of the corruption, he is supposed to be unravelling.

Sources confirmed the Chairman House of Representative probe on fuel subsidy is facing investigation over allegations of accepting bribe from an oil marketer.

The allegation has it that the influential lawmaker was ‘caught in the act’

Insiders revealed details of the allegation, along with proof put together in a petition against the lawmaker is with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The anti graft agency headed by Ibrahim Lamorde is said to have invited the Abuja lawmaker to come clarify certain points on the matter on Monday June 11 2012.

Further digs revealed that the Commission is taking more than a passing interest in the case based on the involvement of other actors- along with added allegations.

Mr Femi Otedola, front person of Zenon Oil and now celebrated promoter of Forte Oil’s name has cropped up as behind the whole bribery episode.

He is alleged as ‘setting up’ Mr Farouk Lawan.

Mr Otedola reportedly used a representative of Zenon Oil to entangle Lawan.

The veracity of this claim, and whether it was done in good faith or not against Otedola and whether it was business as usual turned unusual for Alhaji Farouk are part of what the commission is trying to established.

Further digs revealed that the Presidency is also interested in the affair.

Insiders alleged that Mr Jonathan was copied in the petition against Mr Lawan.

The petition claimed the bribe was meant to shield some oil dealers from corrupt practices.

Ironically in February 2012- Mr Lawan on assumption as Chairman of the fuel subsidy probe has raised alarm that Oil marketers were attempting to bribe him and his members.
