Globacom’s sustained investments in network enhancement projects have significantly enhanced the quality of data services across its nationwide infrastructure. The upgrades have not only elevated customer experience, but also driven a remarkable increase in data subscriptions.

Over the past year, Globacom carried out extensive modernization initiatives, including the expansion of its fiber-optic backbone, deployment of advanced 4G LTE technology, and optimization of network capacity to meet the growing demand for high-speed internet. These efforts have resulted in faster connectivity, reduced latency, and provided more reliable access for millions of subscribers.

The impact of these projects is evident in the surge of data customers on the Globacom network. With ehanced service quality, more Nigerians are choosing Globacom as their preferred provider for affordable and dependable internet access. This growth underscores the company’s role as a catalyst for digital inclusion and economic advancement in Nigeria.

In the latest figures released by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Globacom led Nigeria’s Internet subscriber growth in May, adding about 1.2 million subscribers as the country’s total Internet subscriber base rose by 2.67 million.

The data showed that Nigeria had about 157 million Internet subscribers in May, up from 154.3 million in April. Globacom accounted for almost half of the monthly increase, lifting its subscriber base from about 15.5 million to 16.8 million.
Airtel Nigeria recorded the second-largest gain, adding about 1.07 million subscribers to reach 55.8 million in May, up from 54.8 million in April. MTN Nigeria added 382,894 subscribers, taking its total to about 83.5 million from 83.1 million.
Industry sources believe the massive growth recorded by Globacom in May is a result of its infrastructure renewal and expansion project which began last year and is still ongoing. The network upgrade involves the deployment of thousands of new base stations to cover new locations and densification to improve coverage in areas with growing population to guarantee excellent network quality for both voice and data services all over the country.

The company is also expanding its fibre optic network, and relocating the infrastructure in several locations where road constructions across the country have had an impact on network quality. Similarly, the network has, this year alone, deployed thousands of 4G LTE sites across key cities and locations across the country, significantly improving connectivity and network reach across urban and rural communities alike. These projects have led to enhanced customer experience on the network.

Speaking on the development, Globacom stated: “Our commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction is at the heart of every investment we make. By strengthening our network, we are empowering Nigerians with seamless digital experiences that support work, learning, entertainment, and social connection.”
