Details: MTN Foundation to Celebrate Impact of SAIL Teachers’ Fellowship Programme

The classroom is changing, and increasingly, so is the role of the teacher standing at the front of it. On September 10, 2026, MTN Foundation will graduate 4,702 school teachers as part of the latest phase of its MTN and Senator Abiru Innovation Lab Teachers’ Fellowship Programme.

The graduation ceremony will be held at the MTN Rooftop, Ikoyi, Lagos, following a 16-week capacity-building programme designed to strengthen educators’ digital skills and modern teaching capabilities.

This achievement represents another important milestone for the MTN Foundation Teachers Fellowship Programme, launched two years ago in partnership with SAIL Innovation Hub and Co-Creation Hub (CcHUB). Designed to strengthen teaching quality through digital literacy, innovative pedagogy, and technology-enabled learning, the programme has trained 8,702 public school teachers across Nigeria’s 36 states and the FCT. The growing reach of the fellowship reflects a shared commitment to empowering educators as catalysts for better learning outcomes and long-term national development.

For the current phase, 4,702 teachers have spent the last three months engaged in a structured development journey designed to enhance their effectiveness in an increasingly digital world. Through intensive training, mentorship, and practical application, participants have developed the skills to integrate technology, inquiry-based learning, and innovative teaching methodologies into everyday classroom practice. This focus is particularly timely as artificial intelligence and other emerging digital technologies continue to reshape education globally, transforming how knowledge is accessed, lessons are delivered, and students engage with learning. By equipping teachers with these future-ready competencies, the programme is helping to prepare Nigerian classrooms for the demands of a rapidly evolving educational landscape.

The graduation ceremony marks the completion of the latest cohort and highlights the importance of continuous teacher development, as the 4,702 educators take the knowledge and skills gained through the fellowship back to their schools and into the learning experiences of their students.
