Finally, Oluwo Of Iwo Oba AdulRasheed Akanbi Caged!

The forces against the Oluwo of Iwo  – in Osun state – Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi are aligned against the controversial monarch.

And they have caged him where they want him – in a position to massively reduce his influence and social standing.

The information available to societynow.ng revealed that the Iwo king at odds with multiple stakeholders in and outside his terrain provided the opportunity with the assault on a fellow King, the Agbowu of Ogbaagbaa – Oba Sikiru Aderopo.

Oluwo inflicted injury on the Agbowu during a peace meeting at the office of Senior Police Officer, Assistant Inspector General of Police Bashir Makama on Friday, February 14, 2020, in Osogbo, Oluwo State.

Societynow.ng gathered that the Oluwo descended on the Agbowu over claims of making incorrect assertions and insulting his position.

The information available revealed that the Oluwo attacked the Agbowu without care that he was in the office – and presence – of a high ranking police officer. And other kings including Quadri Adeoye, Oluwo of Iwo-Oke; Oyebamiji Oyeleso of Oluponna, Adio Oyediran of Igegeland, Solomon Ojo of Ikonifin and Moshood Oparonke of Eesu.

Societynow.ng gathered the attack by Oluwo on the Agbowu was so fierce that it took the physical efforts of AIG Makama to pull Oluwo away and Agbowu taken to the state hospital, Asubiaro in Osogbo for treatment.

Insiders disclosed that Agbowu, backed by the other traditional ruler insisted on making a case out of the incident and pushed hard for the detention of the Oluwo of Iwo.

Societynow.ng gathered that as details of the development circulate, other major players at odds with Oluwo in and out of Iwo piled pressure for Oba Akanbi to be detained and a case of assault and threat to life initiated against him.

A slighted AIG Makama refused to take sides, insisting since the Oluwo has helped Agbowu to establish his case, right in his office without regard for his person, the law should take its course.

Societynow.ng gathered that Oluwo initiated a panic call to Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola who had to involve Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to bail out Oluwo from looming embarrassment.

Insiders disclosed that before he was let off on Friday, Oluwo suffered a major loss of face – amongst other things, he was forced to relinquish claims that brought about the peace parley that the turned into a fiasco.

The decision was taken that status ante should be maintained by all parties in the petition by Oluwo that the other kings were selling off the land under his control without approval.

‘’The implication is that Oluwo has lost the attempt to assert control over all the land in Iwo as he battles to escape from the legal implication of the assault on Agbowu’’ societynow.ng learned.

An insider disclosed to societynow.ng that Agbowu and others at odds with Oluwo have turned the situation into a ploy to force Oluwo to negotiate his way out of trouble by making major concessions on affairs he claims to have authority over.

‘’They have caged and want to tighten the screw on it by forcing him to renounce his authority over certain things in the face of the embarrassment of a trial, jail time and possible loss of his crown’’ societynow.ng gathered.

Since he became the King of Iwo, Oba Akanbi has engaged in messy fights with those that helped him to the throne, religious leaders and supremacy tussle with more recognized kings including the Ooni of Ife (Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi) and Alaafin of Oyo (Oba Lamidi Adeyemi).
