The Alaafin of Oyo Oba Lamidi Adeyemi has provided the Oluwo of Iwo Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi a much needed lifeline in the battle to retain his throne.

Alaafin paid a visit to the palace of Oluwo today, Friday, October 30, 2020, in a clear show of support.

The Alaafin openly praised Oluwo and displayed solidarity with the embattled king.

The Alaafin of Oyo clearly showed his hand in the turbulence rocking the throne of Iwo when he ended his remarks at the meeting with the song “Omo Ole Joo Baba, Kamaa binu Omo…Oluwo joo Baba e…” (The son cannot be like the father and we get angry with him, Oluwo is like is father…”

Alaafin aligned with Oluwo’s inferences that those who want to hijack the trouble behind his troubles.

Oluwo at the meeting severally branded the Alaafin as his father and declared his prayer is to be as great as Alaafin, even greater.

The Iwo king assembled stakeholders in his kingdom – including other Obas – to meet with the Alaafin.

Alaafin at the meeting narrated an account of history that greatly favored Oluwo’s stance against the other kings in his kingdom.

Alaafin Adeyemi disclosed that Oluwo’s throne is the one backed by historical facts that all other thrones were village heads (Baales) modernization elevated to kings.

The visit by Alaafin and assertions by the respected monarch at the Iwo palace have greatly boosted Oluwo’s rating.

Oluwo’s loyalists have turned it into a campaign point against those working against his interests.

Aside from the Ooni of Ife, the Alaafin of Oyo is the other highly revered throne in Yorubaland.

Oluwo of Iwo is battling dethronement as a result of accumulated anger over his conduct and controversies decorating his reign – including a messy separation from his wife – since he took the throne.

Oba Adekanbi insists he remains a people’s favorite while kingmakers and others out for him claim his conduct and haunted pasts make him unfit to remain as the king of Iwo.

The matter has transformed into a subject of litigation over Oluwo’s attempt to replace the Iwo kingmakers with subjects loyal to his cause.
