Fashola Retains Works & Housing Ministry Against All Odds, Amosun’s Man Adegbite Gets Juicy Mines & Steel, Keyamo Put Under Akpabio In Niger Delta Affairs As Buhari Ministers’ Get Portfolios
Labule Thomas
President Muhummadu Buhari has assigned ministries to newly inaugurated ministers.
The development which came to be today- Wednesday, August 21, 2019 – threw up some surprises.
Against all odds, Babatunde Fashola retained the ministry of Works and Housing while Senator Ibikunle Amosun’s loyalist Lekan Adegbite was assigned to the juicy ministry of Mines and Steel Development.
Festus Keyamo was announced as Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs with Godswill Akapbio made the substantive Minister.
Asiwaju Tinubu’s fierce loyalist Sunday Dare – the immediate past Executive Commissioner at the Nigerian Communication Commission – was announced as Minister for Youths and Sports Development.
These announcements are a far cry from the objectives of the intense lobbying engaged by the ministers and their backers before portfolios were assigned, except Fashola who got what he fought for and Amosun who got a worthwhile ministry for his loyalist.
