Why Dapo Abiodun’s Supporters Are Extremely Worried As Tribunal Prepares To Give Verdict In Ogun Guber Tussle

In Ogun state, the norms appear not to be normal in the political circuit.

The norm is for the supporters of the Governor – especially one that enjoys the backing of his party leaders at the state and national level – to be extremely confident of whatever is to come, but the reverse is the case in Ogun state.

Supporters of new Governor Dapo Abiodun are worried of what is to come, especially as the election tribunal prepares to give a verdict on the case instituted by Allied People’s Movement’s gubernatorial candidate Adekunle Akinlade challenging the victory of Abiodun and the ruling All Progressives Congress.

APM is the political party passionately backed by former Governor Ibikunle Amosun who is now a Senator on the bill of the APC.

Amosun served as the immediate past two-term governor of Ogun State on the bill of APC.

Amosun pulled the bulk of his political structure out of APC and injected it into APM over an intense disagreement on who succeeds him.

The former governor lost the battle at the polls to a merger of political forces in and out of Ogun state that backed APC which featured friend turned foe Dapo Abiodun as Gubernatorial candidate.

Emerging details since Abiodun was sworn in revealed that he might have won the gubernatorial election but it is not yet safe landing for him.

Amosun has claimed all federal government appointments zoned to Ogun state for his loyalists beating Dapo Abiodun and his backers to the prizes hands down.

‘’Alarmingly the beneficiaries are people known to have openly worked for or contested on the platform of APM. People that worked against the ruling party in Ogun state’’ a source pointed out.

Societynow.ng learned that this development has greatly bolstered the confidence of APM members in Ogun state as they boast of imminent victory against Dapo Abiodun in the upcoming tribunal judgment.

Societynow.ng learned APC members in the state are worried emerging trend rightly points to the direction that the President favors APM against APC – with federal appointments given to Ogun state so far.

Amosun’s political clout and influence are well known to be as a result of extraordinary closeness to President Buhari.

‘’That Amosun so speedily bounced from the alliance that made him unable to field his choice as APC candidate and snatch all the federal appointments zoned to Ogun so far for members of a rival party is what is troubling APC members in Ogun state’’ a source pointed out.

Societynow.ng, however, gathered Amosun is exploiting a widening crack in the political alliance that brought Dapo Abiodun to power.

The crack which is a form of a raging internal conflict over who gets what at the state level and individual scrambles to corner federal appointments provided Amosun the perfect opportunity to operate from a vantage point against his ‘’enemies’’.

‘’Whether this would translate into eventually winning the tribunal case for Akinlade remains to be seen but Abiodun loyalists and the entire APC supporters are worried because a win for Amosun would be a major blow for them, even with the chance of appealing an unfavorable judgment open to the governor and his party’’ societynow.ng learned.
