Details: Gbenga Daniel’s Defection To APC Massively Knocks Talks Of Bimbo Ashiru’s Senatorial Ambition

Details filtering have it that the defection of former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel to the ruling all Progressives Congress has heavily knocked the talks of Senatorial election decorating the person of former multiple-term commissioner Bimbo Ashiru.

Ashiru, one of the shining lights of the APC who pulled a lot of weight to help Governor Dapo Abiodun to power is said to be eyeing the Ogun East Senatorial slot.

Ashiru’s interest in the Senatorial seat is said to have been piqued based on claims that incumbent Senator, Lekan Mustapha is considering fighting Governor Dapo Abiodun for the gubernatorial ticket in 2023.

Societynow.ng gathered that although Ashiru has neither confirmed nor denied the ambition, talks of his interest in the Ogun East senatorial position have enjoyed considerable attention until former Governor Daniel officially defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) last week.

“Daniel’s defection is believed to have largely put an end to such notions” societynow.ng learned.

The former Governor is also doused in talks of interest in the Ogun East senatorial position.

Though he has once disowned a campaign material declaring his interest in the political position, Daniel has not denied the ambition.
