Former Governor of Ogun State Gbenga Daniel has reacted to emerging campaign of his senatorial ambition.

The Governor disowned the campaign without denying the ambition in a response that reads

Our attention has been drawn to a picture post circulating on the social media ‘suggesting’ the political ambition of the former Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency Otunba Gbenga Daniel for the Ogun East Senatorial seat in 2003.

We need to state clearly that we recognize the rights of every Nigerian citizens to their political choices and suggestions; we appreciate the writers ‘suggestive’ post as a creative interest of some individuals which we cannot deny them.

But it becomes also important to state that, at the moment Otunba Gbenga Daniel has not declared any ambition to run for any political office in 2023. He considers this proposition too early to ponder on especially as our nation and indeed the whole world is battling against a ravaging pandemic which has refused to exit for a year now. All creative minds should be geared towards a solution to see the end of the pandemic.

At the appropriate time, as a courageous political leader who had demonstrated enormous capacity in overt mobilisation and good leadership, when the clear choices are made on political party and office to contest, OGD will not shirk from making his choice and interest known.
