Senate President Bukola Saraki has put into play an alternative plan to retain control of the Kwara state government.

Saraki suffered a shock defeat to All Progressive Congress’s Ibrahim Oloriegbe in Saturday’s general election in Kwara Central senatorial district.

The development effectively throws away the massive influence Saraki enjoys as a Senator in Kwara state and leader of the opposition People’s Democratic Party.

Societynow.ng gathered that the distrust that dogged the Saraki political family with the emergence of Razak Atunwa as PDP gubernatorial candidate in Kwara state and Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed’s forced withdrawal from the Kwara South Senatorial race in favor of Rafiu Ibrahim – after securing the party ticket – reared has become more intense with Saraki’s defeat.

Societynow.ng, however, gathered that Saraki is quickly moving to ”contain” the situation and prevent it from causing further harm, insisting to members ‘’the opposition is to blame’’.

Societynow.ng gathered that Saraki is currently engaged in massive morale-boosting drive among members of his political family in a bid to make them see the reason to give all it takes to retain control of the state by winning the March 9 gubernatorial election – and as many House of Assembly seats as possible.

The morale-boosting is geared at urging members to intensify efforts in their locality for a major shift in forcing voters to favor their party and candidates.

‘’A loss in the gubernatorial election would effectively put Saraki and his followers in the back row in the politics of Kwara state’’ societynow.ng confirmed.

Societynow.ng gathered that Saraki is now personally manning Atunwa’s campaign and is lining up meetings with major players to review and make result oriented inputs in their game plans to keep the government of Kwara state within his political family.
