Details of how Senator Dino Melaye was able to coast home to victory at the Saturday February 23 general election in kogi state have emerged.

Dino Melaye is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi West Senatorial District.

He trounced his major challenger and a former senator, Smart Adeyemi.

Interestingly Melaye and Adeyemi are both from Ijumu local government of Kogi State.

Final result showed Dino Melaye got a total of 84,797 votes to defeat Adeyemi who polled 67,471 votes.

Investigation carried out by societynow.ng revealed those that determine what happens politically in Kogi West Senatorial District were actually and solidly behind the controversial senator’s reelection.

And they all came together to give him all the support, an insider squealed.

Further digs unearth the likes of former minister Retired General David Jemibewon and former senator Tunde Ogbeha to be among the major political actors that did the job for Dino.

Ogbeha – equally a retired general in the Nigeria Army – is from Lokoja, while Jemibewon has Iya Gbedde in Ijumu LGA as his home town.

Yomi Awoniyi, a former deputy governor in the state and son of late elder statesman Samuel Awoniyi as well as Sola Akomode – a former aid of PDP presidential candidate- were also disclosed to have helped in securing the victory that is currently giving Dino great joy.

“They all came together and rally round Dino, they gave him all the needed support physically, morally and other wise. I believe its part of the reason he emerged victorious at the poll” an insider who is familiar with processes that earned Melaye victory maintained.

Breakdown of the result showed in Kabba-Bunu LGA, Senator Smart Adeyemi of APC scored 8971 while Melaye of PDP scored 14756. In Kogi local government council, PDP scored 11024 while APC scored 15639; in Ijumu, PDP scored 11749 while APC 8517. In Lokoja local government, PDP scored 24576 while APC 18800. In Yagba West, PDP scored 8942 while APC scored 6799.

Also, in Mopa, PDP scored 5112 while APC scored 3668. In Yagba East, PDP scored 8638 while APC 5077.
