Zenith Bank Supports Mokwa Flood Victims With N300m Donation
for victims of the recent flood disaster in Mokwa Local Government Area.
The Niger State Government has received a donation of N300 million from Zenith Bank Plc as relief support for victims of the recent flood disaster in Mokwa Local Government Area.
The donation was formally presented by the Executive Director of Zenith Bank, Louis Odom, who led a high-level management delegation of the bank on a condolence visit to the Governor of Niger State, Hon. Mohammed Umaru Bago, at the Niger State Liaison Office in Abuja.
Describing the Mokwa flood incident as a deeply unfortunate tragedy, Odom commiserated with the Governor and the good people of Niger State on behalf of the management and staff of the bank.
He stated that the donation is aimed at cushioning the impact of the disaster and providing relief to affected communities.
Odom noted that Zenith Bank recognizes the enormous task ahead for the State Government in rebuilding and rehabilitating the affected areas, adding that the Bank, as a development partner, felt compelled to contribute meaningfully to this effort.
“We are fully aware that the State will embark on massive reconstruction which will require substantial funding. This donation is our modest way of supporting the government’s efforts, and we remain committed to our partnership with Niger State,” he stated.
He also offered prayers for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives in the incident and expressed optimism that Niger State will emerge stronger from the tragedy.
In his response, Governor Umaru Bago expressed profound gratitude to Zenith Bank for the generous donation and their consistent show of solidarity with the people of Niger State.
He commended the bank for being a reliable and responsive partner, particularly in moments of need, and highlighted its visible contributions to the State through various corporate social responsibility initiatives, as well as investments in human and institutional capital development.
Governor Bago further reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to deepening its partnership with Zenith Bank, especially in strategic sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, education, and other key areas of development under the New Niger Agenda.
