A silent battle of influence and clout is playing out in Lagos state.

And the thrust of the engagement is all about efforts by All Progressives Congress chieftains to contain the spread of the political influence of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

The number one citizen of Lagos state is said to currently have a vice grip on the politics of Epe, his hometown.

The governor is said to be instrumental to the emergence of council chairmen and related “workers” in that area.

And all remain extremely loyal to him.

But his attempt to spread influence into other areas in the state by having a say in the appointment and swearing in of secretary to the Local Government and Supervisory councilors in other zones was heavily rebuffed.

They filled the vacant posts with people of their own choice.

“Names actually were given to them by the power behind their actions such as Bayo Osinowo alias Pepper in Kosofe and the likes in other areas” a source stated.

Checks revealed the rejection of the Governor’s candidate was actually meant to contain his attempt to extend his political grip on Lagos state after he became the “power” in Epe.

“That is the real story behind the reported rejection of the governor’s list of SLG and supervisory councilors” a source stated

Insiders revealed the Governor has chosen to take the snub by the chairmen laying low in other not to play into the hands of his behind the scene political adversaries by making an “anticipated move”.

Sources further revealed based on the state chief executive’s silence on the development, an uneasy calm currently exists amongst all those involved.
