Why Aiyedatiwa’s Men Are Campaigning With Renewed Confidence Ahead Of Ondo Guber

Words circulating suggest that loyalists of the Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, are campaigning with renewed confidence of assured victory ahead of the highly anticipated November 16 Ondo State gubernatorial election.

The Governor is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the election.

He heads into the election with a major structure within his party—the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s followers, still loyal to his widow—not backing his ambition.

This development appeared to be a major concern until recently.

Talks indicate that Aiyedatiwa’s role in the APC’s victory in the recent Edo gubernatorial election has boosted the confidence of his loyalists ahead of the Ondo election.

As the Chairman of the Election Planning and Strategy Committee of the APC for the Edo State gubernatorial election, Aiyedatiwa gave his all in the process that enabled his party to reclaim the state from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

“APC brought out its big guns to win the September 21 (2024) Edo guber election, and Aiyedatiwa was right in the middle of it all. The talk is that he will get his deserved reward with his own election in November,” according to whispers here and there.

Rumors across Ondo suggest that this conviction has put an added spring in the steps of Aiyedatiwa’s supporters, fueling their campaign efforts to help him retain his seat in November.

Aiyedatiwa is chiefly up against a combined opposition in the persons of Agboola Ajayi of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Gbenga Edema of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

Both Agboola and Edema are former members of the APC.
