“That’s Impressive” – GTBank Applauded For Updates As Customers Confirm Return Of Service On Digital Platforms

Guaranty Trust Bank, recently honored as “Best Bank in Corporate Social Responsibility in Nigeria” at the 2024 Euromoney Awards, is receiving applause for its transparent handling of an ongoing service upgrade.

The flagship subsidiary of Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc (GTCO) has not only notified customers about the planned system improvements but has kept them updated throughout the process.

This commitment to transparency has been well-received by customers. Facebook user Chinedu Dike, for example, shared on October 15, 2024, “At least GTB has been updating their customers and providing a situation report. That’s impressive.” Dike’s comment came in response to an update from GTBank which is part of the GTCO group with Segun Agbaje as Chief Executive Officer. GTCO reported a landmark N1.004 trillion profit before tax in the first-half of 2024.

The bank’s proactive communication has resonated with other customers as well. Social media user Hon. Kemdiri Precious expressed appreciation by stating, “Thank you so much for your update and innovation.” These comments reflect the positive reactions to the bank’s efforts to minimize the inevitable disruption caused by upgrading its information technology infrastructure, an effort designed to offer even better services in the long run.

To alleviate the inconvenience for customers, the bank extended its branch hours until 6 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2024, and by the following day, it announced that services across its digital banking platforms had resumed. “We are pleased to inform you that services on our Digital Banking Channels are online, and all our branches nationwide are open to serve you… We Are Hard At Work Fine-Tuning…” the update read, signaling the institution’s ongoing commitment to ensuring customer satisfaction.

Customer feedback has confirmed that these efforts are paying off. Account holder Halima H. Mohammed commented, “My mobile app is working perfectly, I just made a transfer to my Opay,” verifying the bank’s restoration of service.

Similarly, Abari David noted that “USSD is now working but unable to retrieve account details,” while Ehimen Barbara reported, “The app is working well now, just made several transfers, but I can’t see my past history and the new receipts don’t have information on the transaction details.”

These responses demonstrate that while services have largely been restored, the bank continues to refine and improve its systems.

GTBank’s IT upgrade is centered on the deployment of a more robust version of the Finacle Core Banking Application System.

This state-of-the-art platform is designed to handle higher transaction volumes, improve operational efficiency, and enhance security for customers, findings revealed.

“The bank’s goal is to provide a smoother, more secure digital banking experience that meets the evolving needs of its customer base.” according to insiders.

While the transition brought temporary disruptions, GTBank’s consistent communication and swift restoration efforts have reassured customers checks here and there revealed.

Recently named Nigeria’s Strongest Brand and Best Banking Brand by Brand Finance and Global Brands Magazine, GTBank’s commitment to customer satisfaction remains unwavering according to indications.

As the bank continues to work around the clock to finalize the upgrade, it has expressed gratitude to its customers, stating, “We thank you for your understanding during this transition; your continued trust means everything to us.”

With this successful transition to a more advanced Finacle system, GTBank not only strengthens its technological foundation but also reinforces the trust and loyalty of its customers.
